Teaching at El-Amin is innovative using current and relevant teaching methods similar to International Academic Standards

The school curriculum embraces aspects of history, personal growth, creativity, social skills, moral and spiritual growth, scientific, mathematical, technological knowledge. Our curriculum is comprehensive, broad-based, sequenced, relevant, balanced, differentiated and appropriate. By a system of profiling subjects, we ensure that learners acquire the knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes to graduate into a fulfilling adult work life.

With the rich Nigerian curriculum, our learners can adapt well to any educational system after their stay at El-Amin International School. We prepare our learners not just for school, but for a rewarding life after school. The school curriculum covers both academic and pre-vocational courses, at the appropriate stages. We offer early childhood education for children starting from the ages of 2 years old. Our child-based curriculum maintains an international standard that provides a balanced program to help your child move to the next stage of their education.

Teaching Methods

Our teaching strategy is designed to cover three main categories/domains of teaching and learning that enhance quality teaching outcome which includes the following methods;

  • Cognitive development method where the objective of learning is designed to develop intellectual skills in learners.
  • Effective development method where changes in the learner’s interest, attitude and values are put into consideration in order to assist the learner to grow in their area of interest.
  • Psychomotor development where teaching is tailored to the learner's ability to illustrate, demonstrate or perform certain skills using their manual ability.

Teaching Methods

The aforementioned teaching methods being applied at El-Amin International School, Abuja is a deliberate attempt at building a total child worthy of respect, trust and honour in our ever-evolving society.

Various teaching methods adopted at El-Amin International School are thus;

  • The direct instruction method involves the traditional teaching strategy that relies on explicit teaching through lectures and teacher-led demonstrations
  • Kinesthetic method where learners perform physical activities to gain Hands-on experiences such as drawing, role-play, building, and the use of drama and sports
  • Differentiated instruction method where teaching instruction is tailored to meet individual learner’s needs
  • Inquiry-based methods where our teachers are supportive figures who provide guidance and support to learners throughout their learning process

Nursery School

Curriculum

At the Nursery School level at El-Amin, three levels exist. They are Pre-school, Nursery 1 and 2. The subjects offered at this level are as follows: Our Nursery School curriculum is designed to cater for the learning needs of learners in Preschool, Nursery 1 and Nursery 2.

At El-Amin International School Abuja, our primary school has six levels for learners progression before they graduate into the Junior Secondary School (JS 1 – JS 3).

  • Nigerian Language (Hausa)

Who can apply?

Children between the ages of 7-11 can apply for a place in our primary school section.

Junior Secondary School

Curriculum

At El-Amin International School Abuja, our primary school has six levels for learners progression before they graduate into the upper primary class (JSS 1 – JSS 3).

Who can apply?

Any child between the ages of 12-17 can apply for a place in our Secondary Section.

Senior Secondary School

Curriculum

At the Senior Secondary level, there are (6) core subjects each Senior Secondary learner must offer in addition to 2-3 other selected subjects.

Learners at this level must offer a minimum of eight (8) subjects and a maximum of nine (9) subjects in total in preparation for their Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)
